Join us to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the death of U.S. Rep. and civil rights activist John Robert Lewis. We will honor a man who was at the forefront of efforts to ensure equal voting rights.
One of the focuses of the local celebration will be on a referendum backed by MAGA supporters to greatly curtail absentee voting. The referendum would eliminate two of the most popular days for early absentee voting, prohibit requests for absentee ballots made by phone or by family members, and require voters to show an approved form of ID to obtain their ballot.

American Flags
Small flags are welcome and encouraged.
If you choose to bring your American flag:
- Please handle flags respectfully, following proper flag etiquette (for example, do not let it drag on the ground)
- Please leave large flags on poles at home as they may obstruct views and could be a safety hazard.
- Poles for any purpose are discouraged due to safety concerns.
BYO Food
There will be no food vendors at this event. We strongly encourage attendees to bring a filled water bottle. A limited supply of bottled water will be available. Take advantage of our central Portland location and enjoy a nearby restaurant before or after the event.
Please clean up after yourself
Organizers will be cleaning up after the event and need your help.

Street Parking
Metered street parking along Congress, Center, Elm, Free, Chestnut, etc., costs about $2.50/hr., with a 2-hour limit. Free after 6pm.

However, police and other government officials are allowed to place certain narrow restrictions on the exercise of speech rights. Make sure you’re prepared by brushing up on your rights before heading out into the streets.
